A Foolish Story

Dear Reader,
Let me clarify at the outset that I am not writing a story. I am not a story-teller and I cannot bore myself to death in this attempt. However, I am not taking the guarantee that I will not bore you. The risk of you sleeping also exists, so please consider this disclaimer before you continue.

Well, this as not about you or me, but is about a boy. This is about how he falls in love; and this is about how he falls... This is the reason why this story stands foolish on the face of it. This is why it is a foolish story. Well, let me explain how.

There was this boy, who falls in love, knowing that his falling in love would trigger many issues and controversies. But you know how it is, right? The whole "love is blind" thing. If it ever applied to a person's situation, it did for this boy. Well, he falls in love, and then he keeps on falling. I guess thats why they say you 'FALL' in love. So he just kept on falling deeper and deeper.

The twist in the story is that he just kept falling, but did nothing about the love. He kept ignoring the love, and kept on taking it for granted. Thank God he woke up one day and saw what he was doing. So he tried patch-up work. He started to do the needful in terms of his love. Eventually, he started realizing that he loved what he was doing. It was no more patch-up but was his way of showing he cared, and, of course, that he LOVED!!!

Well, what he failed to realize was in two-folds. One, the damage was already done! It was practically impossible to mend what he had done. The second truth was a little more difficult. It was that he was second in the race. Strangely the race was not for getting his love, but it was about proving himself. He was constantly in comparison with another person. Whatever he did, was always supposed to match someone else, and more than often he would fail miserably.

Well, I know I have already proved my case about the 'foolishness' in the story, but the icing in the cake is left, and that comes now. Today, this idiot is still in love, still falling deeper and deeper in love, but that has no more meaning, because his competition is going away. Well, I know that would seem to be a good news, but what you fail to realize is that when the competition goes off, his love also ends. Now, the life and consequences of his competition's life is deciding his life, and you can bet on how it is turning out to be.

Well? Do I not successfully prove that it is a 'FOOLISH STORY'!!!

Welcoming Change

When I joined BALLB, I was apprehensive about what awaited me. I was not very sure if I was making a right choice, as there were more opinions than experiences; more suggesters than well-wishers. From then on, I always thought of one thing, 'lets try and be among the few who are different.' I am not sure if I have been able to be so, but I do know that I have sincerely tried to be different.

The one barrier that I always faced was appreciation of being different. I am not sure if all my readers will agree with me, but uniqueness is not always welcomed. Most of the time, redundancy is celebrated because it is safe, not because it is good. A system in place from ages quivers to adopt to change, just because that system is so used to an old dogmatic ancient practice, that change is a word missing from its dictionary.

I am sure if my reader is a science student, then he will disagree, but what about humanities? Since I am an illiterate as far as science goes, I will not venture into the unknown. However, I am not sure how humanities have become so behind in the race to change.

In the study of law, one best example is 'legal language.' Not today, but maybe from a few decades, everyone has been saying, and they keep on saying that legal language is so complicated. I disagree when they comment about acts and statutes, because the complex language is necessity and not choice. However, I do not understand when it comes to pleadings or conveyancing documents. I do not understand why an old ancient form of language is adopted till date in these matters, when the rest of the world in most other fields has moved on.

Change is something that should not only be encouraged, but also made compulsory. the most important reason behind it is that the one and only thing that is ever constant in this world in change, and hence if one faces away from it, they are the biggest fools...

3 Ididots

Well, if my reader is expecting a film review, it will be very disappointing. I am not going to write a review. I only wish to highlight two things.
  1. Run behind excellence, success will follow
  2. The present education system
I wonder how practical it is. Is the Indian Education System really ready for this revolution? I am a student of law. I know people have this perception that law is rules and regulations, but I would like to emphasize that it is not so. Jurisprudence is something that is beyond rules and books. Interpretation is the root of law, and it is not books and rules, its application of mind. It is beyond the common read and vomit strategy. It is more about how you read a law and use it. The question is how many institutes imbibes this capability in the students, where as the reality is that without this capacity, a lawyer is backbone less!!!

My only doubt is whether we are really ready for the shift of education from books and exams to application and practicality. At least in fields of engineering like shown in the movie, it is possible, but what about law? What about humanities? What about encouraging student to take up something weird and allowing to experiment, even in law, or any humanities? I am sure there is no subject in the world that does not have scope for experimentation. The question is, are we ready?

A huge hue and cry is in place when Minister Sibbal announced that he wants to invite foreign universities to come and open their institutes here. the competition was too much, so it was felt. And thus, the solution that was thought fit was to advance our system, and not allow them to come. Funny, how a little competition in our own land shook the trustees and managements of Indian institutes. An look at me, here I am talking about a total shift in the education system.

The question is, as asked in the movie, DO WE WANT TO BE WELL TRAINED OR WELL EDUCATED???

INTRODUCTION

Hi reader!
Before I venture into this difficult task of writing, I think it would be a fair deal in introducing myself to you. After reading this, you might never turn to the next set of posts, as you might find this introduction so boring and inadequate, that you might feel that there is nothing else to read. However, risking this, I will try and be as short and precise in this post as possible, making sure that by the end, you atleast have a fair idea of the person whose posts follow in this blog.
My name is Surup RayChaudhuri. Well, there is no typing mistake here, when you see that Ray and Chaudhuri are not separated by any space. Actually, my surname is Ray Chaudhuri, but most of the time, Ray is made my middle name, so my father thinks it proper that they are wrote together. When I am writing this post, I am in Bangalore, studying Law. The reason for such articulation is because may be, 10 years down the line, I might not be staying here, but I would surely love to have this blog.
As far as looks and personality is concerned, I am the most average person you might meet in your everyday life. I do not have anything special about myself that would draw the attention of an acquintance. I successfully put myself across as an average 22 year old boy, with some small goals in life, such that a few years from today, I find myself in a better position than now. The course I am pursuing, was not an ambition till I came and joined my college, but from that date, there has been no looking back. I am contended with whatever I have learnt and got from CMR Law School, and I work every moment, to achieve goals, such that they ultimately act as building block of my career's fortress.
However, I love writing, and I think this is the best way I can express myself. Till date, I have never intiated writing a blog, but my personal notebooks are filled with such scribblings, which are my mirrors. Now, I have decided to move beyond the scope of a scribbler, and write in the internet, in the form of blogs, and many more such avenues. I only aim to express myself better this way.
As for the topic of my posts, I will not stick to a single sort of topics here. I shall be venturing into many avenues, where I think I have an understanding, and I shall try my best to convey my message in a manner that you find it interesting to read, and I am contended about the message I intended to convey.
If you have been able to tolerate me this far, I hope you find interest in my future posts, and I hope I have a regular reader of my blog "My Stuffs"...
